Chapel Hill Creamery is a small dairy farm and farmstead cheesemaking facility.
We chose Jersey cows for their rich milk, which makes great cheese. Our cows
spend their time on pasture, and we've established an intensive rotational grazing
system to ensure that they'll have access to high quality grass during their
milking season. We milk and make cheese from March through December, when our
pasture, and therefore our milk, are best.

Coon Rock Farm is a sustainable family farm providing garden crops and pasture
raised antibiotic and hormone free chicken, eggs, pigs, lamb and goat on 55
acres nestled along a bend in the Eno River just outside of Hillsborough, NC.
We concentrate on sustainably and bio-dynamically taking care of the land while
letting it take care of us. Our vegetables are mostly heirloom varieties and
raised without chemicals of any kind. Our animals are pastured raised and grass
fed and never given antibiotics or hormones. Our chickens are heritage breeds
that provide both meat and eggs and are completely free range.
We produce over 50 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants,
plus multiple varieties of squash, pumpkins, corn, melons, potatoes, okra, peanuts,
herbs, cucumbers, peas, beans, onions, leeks, garlic, lettuce, arugula, spinach,
kale, mustard greens, mizuna, tatsoi, cabbage, collards, and much more. Eggs:
Our eggs are from heritage breed free range hens (Delawares, Bard Rocks, Buff

The Spain Farm is a fourth generation small farm tucked away between the
woods and urban growth in Raleigh, North Carolina. We are innovatively trying
to take dominion over the land by using stewardship techniques to preserve the
land for the next generation. Our philosophy is to work together with the animals
and the food we grow; instead of trying to artificially stimulate them, we make
them our partners in this business in a sense. Our specialty is shiitake mushrooms.
Grown in the woods on logs, our mushrooms are sheltered under the shade, using
the most natural fertilizer available, fresh water. We are currently putting
into place the paddock system to use with our animals which will allow each
animal to participate in the polyculture we are creating by contributing their
own kind of fertilizer and cleaning up after each other. This system creates
rich areas that grow from natural fertilizers to provide top quality food for
each animal. We try to limit the amount of grain as much as possible and allow
the animals to graze on succulent grasses so that their meat will be rich with
vitamins and enzymes. As grazers, the boar goats are the first to glean the
area, next are the Muscovy, Cayuga and Khaki Campbell ducks which are top grazers
and then there is the clean-up crew – the chickens. Two guardian livestock dogs,
Maggie and Sampson, work in harmony to keep everyone safe. Our offerings include
shiitake mushrooms, figs, cabrito (goat meat), duck meat and eggs and chicken
eggs. We use no pesticides on our food or antibiotics on our animals. There
is no need because the food we grow and the animals we raise help each other
in a wonderful cycle, just as they were created. We try to do our best in everything
we grow, to nurture our mushrooms, goats and other facets of our operation in
order to uphold our end of the bargain, in short to be good stewards.

Tim and Nancy Bass are from a little place called Momeyer, a small town in
Nash County, North Carolina. Our farm has been in Tim's family for nearly 200
years. Prior to our marriage in 1990, Tim was making a fair living by growing
tobacco, soybeans, cotton, and a few chickens. With the changing times, we decided
we needed to change the emphasis of the farming operation. In 1992, an opportunity
arose to be a part of a grass roots effort to start a farmers market in Nash
County. We began growing every local, southern, garden vegetable that first
year to sell at the newly established Nash Area Farmers Market. Realizing the
need for an early and consistent tomato grower to help "grow the market", we
decided to give it a try. We researched, studied, and learned to grow greenhouse
tomatoes in 1993. Now, eighteen years later, we have found a few more opportunities
to market our tomatoes and have been able to increase the size of our operation.
We are now a part of two farmers markets as well as a few wholesale outlets.
What we do has enabled us to stay on the farm and enjoy the lifestyle that only
a farmer can appreciate.

We are a new small farm located in northern Franklin County. We currently
raise Boer Meat Goats and Chickens. We currently sell the chicken eggs and plan
to raise broiler chickens this year for meat. This will also be our first year
to have Goat Meat to sell. This year we will also have a Market Garden and will
be growing several market vegetables including: spring and fall vegetables like
lettuces, spinach, kale, kohlrabi, broccoli, carrots and cabbage and summer
vegetables including tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, onions, squash, melons, and
corn. We will begin working on organic certification of our Market Garden in
February and hope to obtain Organic Certification by mid summer. Because this
is our first year, I expect the produce list will change over time. I do see
a possibility for incorporating flowers and certain fruits/berries to our product
list.

crops until today we grow 19 different produce crops. We grow and sell only

eat the crops that we grow, so we use as few pesticides as possible.
